Investment and Retirement Accounts

Certificates of Deposit (CDs)

  • Earn highest interest on funds you deposit for a specified amount of time
  • Minimum deposit of just $500
  • Rate determined by length of time (term) of the CD you choose
  • Terms available from 60 days to 60 months — the longer the term, the higher the rate
  • Rate paid is fixed and guaranteed
  • Regulations require substantial penalty for early withdrawal
  • Jumbo CDs for substantial investment amounts also available

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA)

  • No administrative fees
  • Quarterly dividends paid into account
  • Quarterly statements issued to track account status

Traditional IRA

  • Money invested and earned not subject to income taxes until time of withdrawal.
  • Make withdrawals without penalty once you reach the age of 59 ˝ years of age
  • Must begin withdrawing from your account when you reach the age of 70 ˝.

Roth IRA

  • Invest after-tax money and take qualified distributions that are free from taxes and penalties
  • No restrictions on how often contributions can be made
  • Dollar limit restrictions may apply

IRA Certificate

  • Investment certificate of deposit only for IRA accounts
  • Earn higher rate than regular certificates of deposit
  • Certificate is for a specified term at a specified rate
  • Additional deposits to the certificate may be made only at end of the specified term
